What's Happening in Medellín, Week of September 14, 2026
The city's biggest cultural event of the year is winding down its closing weekend, while both Medellín football clubs have matches on the calendar in the days ahead. Here's what to put on the calendar through Tuesday, September 22.
The 20th Fiesta del Libro y la Cultura runs through this Sunday, September 20, with more than 3,600 free activities spread across the Jardín Botánico, Parque Explora, and the university district in the city's north. Doors are open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., entry is free, and the festival has brought in more than 400 national and international guests this year, with South Korea as the guest of honor country. The easiest way in is the Metro's Línea A to Estación Universidad, then a five-minute walk to any of the main venues, since parking near the Jardín Botánico fills up fast on a closing weekend. Independiente Medellín hosts Jaguares de Córdoba this Tuesday, September 22, at 6:00 p.m. at the Atanasio Girardot, in the Liga BetPlay's regular Clausura phase. The DIM comes off two rough weeks on the road and will be looking to turn a home date into three points in front of its own fans. (365Scores)
Atlético Nacional, currently top of the Liga BetPlay table, travels to Villavicencio to face Llaneros this Sunday, September 20, with an evening kickoff. It's an away date for the green-and-whites, so there's no gathering at the Atanasio for this one, but it's the match that decides whether Nacional holds the lead heading into the following week. That's the week ahead: the last days of the city's biggest book festival, one home match, and one away match for the two clubs that share the Aburrá Valley's attention every matchday.
